late night conversation
"one time, i was at the drive-thru, and i told my order to the garbage can. i was just talking to the garbage can for the longest time. it was so sad. i was so embarrassed." - Isaac Neilsen

PEOPLE LIKE YOU - YOU - YOU
... What a morning. My Facebook status was "had a terrible morning" and it wasn't even 10 a.m. yet.
So I had dropped my dad off at work, and was heading up to the college. I was by the Science Centre and I guess I totally cut off these women while changing lanes. they must have been directly in my blind spot. I knew I had done something wrong when I looked in my rearview mirror and saw a LIVID woman giving me the finger and clearly yelling to her friend in the passenger seat. shit... So I kept driving, and pulled in to where Kal Fitness is so I wouldn't have to drive in front of them anymore, but nope, they followed me all that way to yell at me in the parking lot. I rolled down my window, almost in tears, and all I could say was "I'm so so sorry. I'm sooooo SORRY" while her friend was all "she was in an accident YESTERDAY because of PEOPLE LIKE YOU." People like me? But I've only been driving alone for a week...! Ugh I felt so so awful. And of course, she had been in an accident YESTERDAY. Just my luck. And they were like, 4 years older than me, which made me feel worse. I can't help but wonder if they would have reacted the same way if I was like, an 85 year old woman. From now on, I am gonna be SO careful when changing lanes, so I guess that's good.
I was so upset, I didn't go to class, I just drove around aimlessly trying to calm down. On my way home, there was a guy driving behind me who was clearly getting a morning blowjob from his err, generous? girlfriend. As gross as that was, it kind of cheered me up. At least someone was having a good morning...

between the bars - elliott smith
Drink up baby, stay up all night
With the things you could do
You won't but you might
The potential you'll be that you'll never see
The promises you'll only make
Drink up with me now
And forget all about the pressure of days
Do what I say and I'll make you okay
And drive them away
The images stuck in your head
The people you've been before
That you don't want around anymore
That push and shove and won't bend to your will
I'll keep them still
Drink up baby, look at the stars
I'll kiss you again between the bars
Where I'm seeing you there with your hands in the air
Waiting to finally be caught
Drink up one more time and I'll make you mine
Keep you apart, deep in my heart
Separate from the rest, where I like you the best
And keep the things you forgot
The people you've been before
That you don't want around anymore
That push and shove and won't bend to your will
I'll keep them still
With the things you could do
You won't but you might
The potential you'll be that you'll never see
The promises you'll only make
Drink up with me now
And forget all about the pressure of days
Do what I say and I'll make you okay
And drive them away
The images stuck in your head
The people you've been before
That you don't want around anymore
That push and shove and won't bend to your will
I'll keep them still
Drink up baby, look at the stars
I'll kiss you again between the bars
Where I'm seeing you there with your hands in the air
Waiting to finally be caught
Drink up one more time and I'll make you mine
Keep you apart, deep in my heart
Separate from the rest, where I like you the best
And keep the things you forgot
The people you've been before
That you don't want around anymore
That push and shove and won't bend to your will
I'll keep them still

6:59
i've been told
that people in the army
do more by 7 a.m.
than i do
in an entire day
but if i wake
at 6:59 a.m.
and turn to you
to trace the outline of your lips
with mine
i will have done enough
and killed no one
in the process.

some quotes just for you
"we're in the dark, but i can already hear what his words sound like when he smiles. i love that."
- from Whip It by Shauna Cross
"i thought about my mother, what she says about men: that no matter what, there's always something. fall in love, and you'll find it. he will steal, or drink, or dress up in your clothes, or die on you at dinner. that's love, she says. that's what you sign up for." - from Girls in Trucks by Katie Crouch
"a wise girl kisses but doesn't love, listens but doesn't believe, and leaves before she is left." - Marilyn Monroe
there is a light that never goes out
take me out tonight, where there's music and there's people and they're young and alive...

recently...
- i cannot for the life of me read Frankenstein. The semester is a week old, and already I am in trouble. I really like my new english prof, so I feel bad, but I JUST CAN'T DO IT. I've been doing everything but reading that book. i pick it up, read about two sentences, then notice something shiny, or check my facebook for the umpteenth time, or go cut my nails. Sorry, Prof. Bowman-Broz.
- i've been so busy figuring out what the hell i'm doing this year, that i've kind of forgotten that i need to start planning NEXT year. again, i am at a loss. shit...
- sometimes, it feels like coffee does nothing in the waking-you-up department, and then there's the times when you take one sip, and literally feel the caffeine running through your veins, waking you up one limb at a time. this morning was one of those times.
- i just read a really great book: Girls in Trucks by Katie Crouch. it's sad, funny, and doesn't sugar coat anything. my kind of read. check it out.
- i finally saw (500) Days of Summer. oh my god, i'm in love. so good. SO GOOD. "i'm sorry, darling, but there seems to be a Chinese family in our bathroom." Joseph Gordon-Levitt, come find me.
- seeing the very first boy to ever tell me i was beautiful, even though it was 4 years ago, still makes me... flustered, i guess? yeah, he's a hockey-playing douchebag from what i've heard, but i couldn't help but feel nostalgic for the days when we'd talk about how nervous we were about auditioning for the school play over MSN, or the heartbreak i felt when i saw him kiss his new girlfriend in gym class. ahhh, the joys of living in a small-ish town.
- speaking of small-ish towns, whoa, yeah, i definitely had a run-in that made Vernon feel microscopic. it involved sailor hats, long text sessions, old best friends, a supposedly broken-hearted boy, an awkward stoplight interaction, driving around at 3 A.M. and seeing her car in front of his house... all i could do is laugh, really. honestly, what else is there to do?
- i might be Crave Massage's new receptionist. thanks Darcy for referring me, even though i constantly turned down your "let me take you out for lunch" propositions haha =) i also applied to Starbucks and Safeway. I'm hoping for Crave.
- being on that couch in that living room is what gets me through the week. that's all i'm gonna say.
cut off your hands
one way to win me over?
giving me a flash drive with 14 albums, 168 songs on it.
songs performed by indie bands not from this continent.
yup, that'll do it.
