happy new year, bizznatches!
i'm ringing in 2009 at mik and brooke's rockin' new years eve partay.
it should be a blast and a half:
playing in the snow, Rock Band marathon, and eating!
i can't decide whether or not to wear a dress, but i'll figure it out ;)
sadly, there will be no strapping young man for me to kiss at midnight, but what else is new?
see y'all tonight!

indie love heaven
oh my GAWD!
zooey deschanel and ben gibbard are GETTING MARRIED.
ben gibbard, the singer from Death Cab for Cutie and The Postal Service.
that is SO COOL. i just hope it lasts, in indie love heaven, forever.
zooey used to date Jason Schwartzman, who is one of my celeb crushes. they were probably SO cute. she thanks Jason in the liner notes of "Volume One".
but YAY for zooey and ben!

following my dreams
oh my gawd, i cannot tell you how excited i am for The City on MTV. whenever i think about it, i get all restless and smiley. i have watched the trailer a ridiculous amount of times. Whitney has always been my favourite on The Hills, aside from Lauren, and she seems to be actually intelligent (ahem, Audrina). i like that whenever we see Whitney on the show, she's getting praised by her bosses, or working hard at her job. minus the expressive chats about Lauren's personal turmoil, that is. she's someone to look up to, and not just for fashion ideas.
i'm pretty much over The Hills, though. I'm surprised they even signed on for a fifth season. i thought because of The City starting up, The Hills would come to an end. I'm bored with Lauren trying to find a man, Audrina and her boring problems, and fucking Heidi and Spencer. honestly, who cares anymore? The finale was so staged, it was embarrassing to watch.
Which brings me to The City. First thing, it takes place in NEW YORK CITY. if i could marry an inanimate object, it would be that city. i went there this summer and fell in love with it, just like millions before me. Second, it stars Whitney Port. We get to see her work at Diane Von Furstenberg, which gives us an inside look to the fashion industry. Her friends, from what i've seen, seem interesting and funny. one of them is a runway model. that's cool! plus, she has fights on the streets with her model boyfriend with great quotes like "you feel the same WAY?! what do you MEAN you feel the same WAY?!" i like her already. THEN, there's Jay, Whitney's Australian almost-boyfriend. he's Australian. and a musician. need i say more? these characters have more to them, which makes me excited to see how the show unfolds.
premieres on MTV on December 29th. you know i'll be watching.

x-mas re-cap
well, i had a pretty successful Christmas. i got quite a few of the things i wanted, plus So You Think You Can Dance Canada tour tickets! I will be this close to Nico on January 31st. I just might pass out.
my brother gave me Adele's debut album, "19", and it is ah-mazing. that girl has this gorgeous deep jazzy voice, plus she writes all but one song (the one she didn't write is a Bob Dylan cover), and plays acoustic guitar, bass guitar, rythym guitar, cowbell, and a bunch of other obscure instruments throughout the album. If you haven't bought it yet, go out and buy it. you will not be disappointed.
today, i dared to enter the Village Green mall on Boxing Day. I got two books, ItGirl: Infamous by Cecily von Ziegesar (one of many of my guilty pleasures) and Th1rteen R3asons Why by Jay Asher. i've got lots of reading to do! i also bought She & Him's "Volume One". Zooey can serenade me now whenever i want!

european dreaming...
all i wanna do is have some fun...
which is why i am currently fantasizing about going to Italy and Greece and Spain.
those are the three European countries I am dying to travel to. i don't see that happening anytime soon, since i haven't been saving any money, and i seriously doubt that that will be my graduation present from the parental unit.
i'll probably get a frying pan or something... "For your eventual first place! We know you make a mean omelette..."
Italy would be soooo amazing. THAT would be how i'd finally gain some weight! i LOVE italian food, so i would just eat and eat and EAT (especially if some cute local named Francisco was feeding me). I just looks so beautiful there. As for Greece, i've wanted to go ever since i first saw The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, and my desire was rekindled after seeing Mamma Mia! The never-ending ocean, the blue skies, the white buildings, Meryl Streep dancing and singing in a pair of overalls....
Spain has been intriguing me lately, and it's fairly close by to the other two countries, so why not? Being spontanious is key. When my mom traveled in Europe back in the 80's, she and her friend randomly caught a ferry to Morocco and spent two days there. mom was pretty cool back then, i suppose.
anyways, i should get back to my thrilling english essay that is due tomorrow. "Pick Your Poison: Coffee vs. Energy Drinks". i feel like such an investigative journalist!
Sidebar: is it weird of me to absolutely LOVE Meet the Barkers? MuchMusic has been playing re-runs lately and i am just SO charmed by them. Travis is such a cute dad!

country music and drunken fights
how am i spending my Friday night?
unlike many of my classmates, I am not getting "SoOoOoO wasted!" or making out with a boy.
no, no.
i am listening to Taylor Swift (her music is the only kind of country i can handle. sort of.), pretending that i have someone to belt out a break up song about.
"good, clean fun."
i'll probably finish watching The Real World: Key West on mtv.ca too.
it's good to be me.
