i wish that Ben Gibbard could observe the moments in my life and write beautiful songs about them.whether it's his work with Death Cab For Cutie, or his side-project The Postal Service, he has a way of taking the smallest moments and details and making them interesting, real, and just really pretty pieces of music. like the light brown streaks of a girl in Tiny Vessels, a song about realizing you told someone you loved them when you really don't. "yes, you are beautiful, but you don't mean a thing to me."
the simple action of looking for some legal documents in his glove compartment inspired him to write Title and Registration, one of my favourites, a song about when his relationship was actually good. "and there's no blame / for how our love did slowly fade / and now that it's gone / it's like it wasn't there at all."
i wish there was some way to make this possible ' cause i need someone to make sense of what is going on right now, and Ben just seems like the man for the job.
