i'm your lazy dancer

metric ♥

i have loved this band since their song "Monster Hospital" was the iTunes free download of the week back when i was thirteen. it was just really great to finally see them in concert. if i didn't love emily haines before, i sure adore her now. i loved her dancemoves, her dress, and the fact that the band sounded just as good live as they do on their albums. they truly put on a great show.  here are some other highlights of the evening:
  • driving down to Kelowna with the Haberstocks and their Mexican extended family. "hola!"
  • COSTCO. hahaha Paige, Brooke and I picked up as many samples as we could. noodles, liquid yogurt, health bars... "I WANT A COSTCO CONE!" helloooo, Costco employees Travis and Mike =)
  • quickly eating at White Spot
  • Brooke's impressive pile of napkins
  • we met up with Alyssa, Chea, Nikita, Alex, Jaz and Marina
  • the opening band, Zeus. they had their indie hipster rock uniforms on - skinny jeans, grandpa cardigans, ironic mustaches and dirty, long hair. they were pretty good =)
  • METRIC. ahhhh i still can't get over how good they were.
  • there was one guy ahead of us to our right, and he was all by himself. that didn't stop him from having a great time. he was dancing and even whipped out an air guitar for a bit. so entertaining.
  • they played their last song, "Stadium Love", and i couldn't help but be disappointed that they hadn't played Monster Hospital (the first Metric song i heard) or Combat Baby (my favourite Metric song). then they came back for the encore and played those very two songs. Combat Baby was just Jimmy playing acoustic guitar and Emily singing. i came very close to weeping. it was soooo great.
  • when the lights came up, i realized that my Communications professor had been sitting in the seats directly in front of Brooke and me. I had been loudly, enthusiastically singing Metric lyrics into my prof's ear all night long. hahahaha =)
now i wanna go to another concert. Death Cab, are you listening?
